HINDI LESSONS >> Bhuvaneshwar Mandir, New York, USA

Division of Hindi Studies

There are many reasons why we should learn Hindi. First of all since we are Hindus, we ought to be acquainted with the language or languages associated with this ancient religion of Hinduism. Many of our bhajans, prayers, and verses from our scriptures are written in Hindi. Chanting and reciting these have brought tremendous joy and divine feelings to many of us. Can you imagine the magnitude of happiness if we can understand what they mean? Peoples of different nations have with pride preserved their national language and although throughout the world today English is becoming the official language, to maintain their cultural identity they speak their language at home. Shouldn’t we be proud of our heritage as well?

Let’s learn Hindi.

The Bhuvaneshwar Mandir is particularly happy to embark on a Hindi program. It is our intention through these few lectures to motivate our devotees in general and our youngsters in particular to learn and to appreciate the beautiful language of Hindi. Many of you might have been in a Hindi class sometime before but very soon after, your interest faded away. The joys of learning Hindi can only be experienced if there is an extension of these classes in your homes. It necessitates much practice in both writing and reading. It is my fervent hope that each of you will treasure these moments we spend together in a process that all of us will be proud of.
